Shocking: the meat industry uses huge mutant cows for beef production

While it looks like some mythical creature, or like some animal out of a fantasy book, the animal that you see in the picture below, is not!

It is called a Belgian blue bull, and it exists on some farms around the world. These animals have an extremely muscled frame and are known for their huge size.

Double muscling

These animals are so big, because of the mutation that they carry. This mutation is called “double muscling”. In order to increase profit, the meat industry found a way to omit the gene that is responsible for controlling the muscle growth in these animals. This makes the cows grow larger, and that means more meat.

The morality of the companies and the health of the customers have taken a backseat, because it seems like the pain purpose of this industry is to increase the quantity of the product, while not minding about the quality.

More and more people are beginning to realize that this treatment of the animals is inhumane, because their size makes their lives very uncomfortable. Plus, the cows have extremely difficult times during their pregnancies, and they undergo C-section.

In order to survive the miserable living conditions, they receive human grade antibiotics, and when they fall sick, the farmers just up the dosage. This happens because every farmer wants their animal to survive long enough, so he can get it to the slaughterhouse.

These animals need your help

Just because you cannot hear and watch the painful stuff, does not mean that you should turn a blind eye. You can always choose not to support this “trend”. Do your research, find out what farms use selective breeding and antibiotics, and simply don’t buy their products.

    They are hybrids and It has been going on for decades. They keep mixing one breed of cow with another to get better meat production. For example, a farmer could inject semen from a very large bony animal into a smaller very stout meaty animal with the hope of getting a new breed of animal that is very large like the sire and stout and meaty like the mother. This accomplishes two things: More beef for the consumer and if the experiment works the farmer makes a lot of money. Nothing wrong with that.
