Rooibos tea is produced from leaves and twigs of the shrub of the same name, which grows in the south of the African continent. The beverage obtained after brewing is distinguished by a beautiful golden color, nut or herbal aroma and a slightly sweet taste.
However, the main thing is that it has a beneficial effect on the state of the body, because it contains a lot of nutrients. Depending on the method used to process the leaves, there are two types of rooibos: red rooibos and green rooibos.
Red rooibos is obtained by fermentation (oxidation) of leaves, which gives a reddish brown color to the tea drink and enhances its flavor. Green rooibos is obtained from non-oxidized needles. This type of tea is more expensive and differs from red for its taste qualities.
Rooibos tea is the source of some useful minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, copper, zinc. However, as studies have confirmed, neither the green nor the red form of this tea contains vitamin C. Despite this fact, rooibos is the source of many other useful elements that, acting together, contribute to better absorption of all nutrients.
