Honey is in the category of the healthiest foods on the planet. It provides wide range of not only healthy, but also beauty benefits.
It is very useful when it comes to removing blackheads. They generally occur when hair follicles become clogged with dead skin cells, dirt, oil or other impurities. This makes the top layer to become oxidized and it turns black in color. They can appear on the arms, chin, back, shoulders, neck, face and nose.
Honey is a natural antibiotic that helps remove the dirt and impurities from the pores. It hydrates and tightens the skin while it clears the blackheads. It is also loaded with antioxidant, antibacterial and antiseptic properties, which also help when it comes to eliminating blackheads.
How can honey treat blackheads?
Lemon and honey
Lemons contain AHA (alpha hydroxy acids) and BHA (beta hydroxy acids). These acids are very powerful in eliminating dead skin cells. These acids control oil production and clear blackheads.
- One lemon
- Three to four drops of raw honey
- You can optionally add a pinch of baking soda
How to prepare it:
First of all, you will need to cut the lemon in half and then add up to 4 drops of honey onto the lemon. Then rub it on your face, while you focus on the areas that are affected. It will need to stand there for five minutes and then just wash it off with cold water.
You can also use another method that will give you the same results:
Honey with lemon mask
You will need to pour water in a pot and then boil it. Then put a towel over your head and steam your face. Be advised that the distance between your face and the water should not be smaller than 12 inches. Then, you should mix a freshly squeezed lemon juice and one tablespoon of organic honey in a bowl. You should apply this mix on your face but always avoid the eyes and the area around them. The mask should stand there for around 30 minutes and you can then wash it off with cold water. Do not forget to apply moisturizer afterwards.
