The Cherokee Indians strongly believed that the Creator has provided all the herbs that people need for the treatment of numerous health conditions.

They have used these for hundreds of years:

  1. Mint

Mint tea can treat an upset stomach and digestive issues. They bruised and crushed the leaves in order to relieve pain and itching. Mint is very useful in cases of nausea, fatigue and allergies.


  1. Yellow dock

Yellow dock is a herb that is used for cooking, because it has long roots that contain high amounts of minerals and vitamins. But the leaves are packed with iron and have laxative effects, and if you mix the roots with warm water, you have prepared yourself a powerful antiseptic.

  1. Blackberry

Blackberries are packed with antioxidants that can promote cardiovascular health and can strengthen the immune system. They are used for the treatment of upset stomachs. They can also soothe sore gums and blackberry tea can reduce the swelling in the joints.

  1. Cattail

Cattail can be digested easily, and by consuming it you can prevent illnesses or assist in the process of recovery.

  1. Yarrow

Yarrow can treat external skin wounds with great effectiveness. You crush its leaves and then apply them to the open wound. This will stop the bleeding and it will also prevent infections. Yarrow tea can help with gallbladder and kidney issues.

  1. Sumac

It is packed with antioxidants that will help the process of healing. If you prepare a tea of its leaves, you will easily reduce fever. The berries contain high amounts of vitamin C.

  1. Greenbriar

The Cherokee Indians used greenbriar as a diuretic to treat urinary infections, and also to purify their blood. The roots are packed with minerals and starch, and the leaves are high in supplemental minerals and vitamins.

The leaves and the bark can be used to prepare an ointment which can relieve minor burns and sores.

  1. Wild ginger

You can prepare a tea from the root of wild ginger, and it will treat intestinal gas, upset stomach and it will also improve your digestion. The Native Americans used this herb to treat pain in the ear.

  1. Wild rose

Wild rose has a fruit that is known as rose hip. This fruit is extremely healthy because it contains high amounts of vitamin C. The tea has been used to treat flu and colds, to boost the immune system and to stimulate the function of the kidney and the bladder.


  1. Buckbrush

Buckbrush roots have been used to improve kidney function and to soothe inflammation. This herb can also regulate blood pressure. In order to prepare a tea from this herb, you need to steep the flowers and leaves in a boiling water for five minutes.
