How many steps a day can help you lose weight?


There are very few people that are satisfied with their weight, and although diets that are fast and quick exist, there are simply not very efficient.

You are going to be pleased to hear that there is a way for you to lose weight, with a method that requires no money, just requires you to change a few of your habits. The short answer is that you need to walk more.

The amount of calories that you will burn depends solely on two factors:

  • The area that you are walking through
  • Body weight

If you walk for an hour with an average speed of 4 mph, your body will burn 400 calories. More specifically, you need to make 2000 steps, so that your body can burn 100 calories. That is about a mile of walking. You need to also remember that if you lose one pound, your body has burnt 3,500 calories.

The best way to lose weight is to lose one pound a week. This means that you will need to burn 500 calories, or simply walk 5 miles every day.

Tips on how to walk more

  • Walk your kids to school.
  • Avoid using your car or the bus, and instead, walk to your workplace or home.
  • Use the stairs and not the elevator.
  • When you are going out with your car, park a little further from your destination, so you can walk to it.

How often should you walk?

It is highly recommended that in the first three days you should only walk for about 15 to 20 minutes. As the time passes, you will feel more and more ready and you can increase the walking time to 30 or 60 minutes.

In time, this will become a routine, and you will be losing weight without even noticing.
