Don’t be afraid to take off your shoes. Here are 7 home remedies that will help you battle stinky feet

When you are physically active, your feet will get hot, and then you will be afraid to take them off, because of the terrible smell that will come out of them. This is an embarrassing situation, and if you are in a place with some friends, you will be hoping that no one noticed that, as you put your feet back into your shoes.

What is more, there are situations where even if you keep your shoes on, they will not be able to contain the smell, which is caused by the bacteria and sweat on your feel. But the important thing to remember is that this is an issue that can be resolved, and in this article, we are going to show you simple ways to do just that:

  1. Powder

If you use powder, it will be able to effectively absorb the odor and the sweat, which is an extremely effective way to combat the stink. You can use some inexpensive powders like cornstarch or baking soda. In case you want to add some smell to the powder, you can add a couple of drops of your favorite essential oil.

  1. Antiperspirant

This might seem a little unusual, but because of the fact that the cause of the odor, is the sweat and bacteria, antiperspirant is a way to eliminate them. It works in the same way as on your pits.

  1. Shoes

According to some professionals, the shoes that you are wearing are also very important. You need to wear shoes that will allow your feet to breathe. You need to avoid rubber and plastic shoes because they are made of materials that will just make the things worse.

  1. Socks

According to Men’s Health, if you want to remove the problem with stinky feet, you need to wear cotton socks, rather than polyester or nylon blends. The reason for that is because cotton has the ability to keep the moisture away from your skin and by doing so, it minimizes the breeding of bacteria.

  1. Tea

Tea is another great way to kill the bacteria and fight the bad smell. You can use a tea of any flavor that you like, but you will need to add four to five tea bags to 1 quart of water. If you want to try a soak that smells great, we suggest that you use mint tea. You will need to soak your feet in this mixture for 20 minutes, every day.

  1. Exfoliate

Because of the fact that the dead skin cells will break down when the feet are sweaty, Medical News Today recommends that you exfoliate your feet on a regular basis. Take a pumice stone and use it on your feet for 2 to 3 times a week. Remember that you need to soak your feet in water first because that will maximize the effectiveness of the treatment.

  1. Epsom salt

This salt has the ability to kill bacteria, and it will soften your skin before exfoliating. You need to add two cups of Epsom salt in one-half basin of warm water and soak your feet in this mixture twice a day.
