Avoid These Foods If You Regularly Suffer From Headaches

Consuming too much salt, sugar, caffeine, and alcohol has a negative effect on your physical and mental health. Headaches can seriously affect the quality of your life. Are you aware of the fact that the foods you choose might be causing you terrible headaches?

If you are a migraine sufferer, you should stay away from the following foods if you don’t want to make the condition worse.


The amount of tyramine found in cheese depends on the following factors: fermentation, type of processing, deterioration, age, and bacterial contamination. If you thought that older cheese has better taste, you are wrong. Older cheeses can trigger migraines.


Foods which contain yeast-extract, sodium-glutamate, hydrolyzed veggie protein, sodium caseinate, and hydrolyzed plants cause painful headaches. So, the chemicals, preservatives, and additives are the worst headache triggers.


Excessive drinking of alcohol causes several side effects such as drowsiness, vomiting, diarrhea, upset stomach, high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, and of course headaches. Alcohol contains ethanol which causes the headaches. Champagne, red wine, beer, and scotch are the biggest culprits in causing headaches.

Cold food 

You shouldn’t eat ice cream if have spent some time in the sunlight and your body temperature is high. Cold foods can be one of the main reasons which cause headaches when your body is warm.


Processed foods like sausages, smoked meat, conserved and pickled food contain nitrates which are very harmful to your health, as they increase the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. People who regularly consume these foods are at risk of experiencing headaches.


Tannin is found in pear or red apple tea. Also, this ingredient is found in red wine.


Sulfates are found in dried fruits such as plums, raisins, apricots, dates, and figs. They are also found in white and red wine and processed foods. Prior to buying any food, check the label.


Dark chocolate contains a high percentage of cocoa which stimulates the function of the nervous system and improves your cardiovascular health but consuming milk chocolate regularly increases your food cravings and causes headaches.


Caffeine is addictive, so consuming it regularly can cause more than headaches. It can cause dizziness, nausea, high blood pressure, heart palpitations, insomnia, and fatigue. Drink no more than 2 cups of coffee a day.


Bread and all the pastry such as donuts, cakes, and some cookies are yeast-containing foods. Yeast can increase your blood pressure and cause headaches.
