6 Home Remedies for Low Blood Pressure

The medical term for low blood pressure is hypotension.

Low blood pressure is a disorder when your blood pressure drops, which leads to dizziness, nausea, cold hands and pale skin, and fainting. Active people usually have lower heart rates. Low blood pressure does not cause serious problems, but a sudden fall in your blood pressure which causes dizziness or fainting, it means that your blood pressure is too low, and it should be treated right away.

If your blood pressure is 90/60 mmHg, it is considered low. In this case, you don’t experience any symptoms so its treatment is unnecessary. In case your blood pressure reading is under 90/60 mmHg it is abnormally low and it can result in decreasing the blood flow and nutrients to your brain, so leaving this condition untreated can be dangerous.

Long bed rest, dehydration, decreased blood volume, hormone imbalance, and pregnancy are the most common reasons which contribute to developing low blood pressure.

Also, certain medications such as alpha and beta blockers, antidepressants and diuretics can lower the blood pressure. When you experience any symptoms of low blood pressure, it is recommended to take some fluid and salt intake. But, consult your doctor before you decide to increase your salt intake.

Additionally, avoid drinking alcoholic drinks, reduce the intake of high-carbohydrate foods like pasta, rice, and bread, and drink plenty of water every day.

The following tips will help you increase your blood pressure levels.

Saltwater

Salt is high in sodium which increases the blood sugar level, so add one and a half teaspoon of salt to a glass of water. This natural solution is effective but be very careful with the proper dosage of it. Drinking excessive amounts of saltwater is not healthy, as it can cause dehydration.

Coffee

We all know that coffee increases your blood pressure because it contains caffeine. Also, cola or hot chocolate act as stimulants. You can drink coffee in the morning, but it should not be your habit because drinking too much coffee can have negative effects too.

 Raisins 

Put 30-40 raisins in a glass of water. Leave them to soak overnight. The next morning, eat them on an empty stomach. Also, drink the water that they were soaked in. Repeat this treatment for several weeks.

Holy basil 

Holy basil is a rich source of vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, and pantothenic acid. Holy basil acts as a powerful antioxidant with healing properties. It reduces anxiety and has a calming effect on the central nervous system. All you have to do is extract the juice of around 15 basil leaves. Then, add some honey to enhance the taste. Drink this juice on an empty stomach.

Licorice root 

Licorice root regulates your blood pressure and reduces anxiety. Add one teaspoon of this herb to one cup of boiling water. Leave it for a few minutes. Your licorice root tea is ready.

Beetroot juice 

This juice regulates your blood pressure. Therefore, drinking beetroot juice twice a day for one week is highly recommended.
