We can now safely regard diet soda to be one of the biggest marketing scams of all time.
The manufacturers are constantly convincing people that diet sodas are way healthier than the drinks that they love, and they worsen their health and even charge them more for that.
The truth was discovered by researchers from the University of Iowa. Their study lasted for more than nine years and it involved 60,000 participants. The study was led by Dr. Ankur Vyas. The main goal of this study was to analyze the effects that aspartame has on the human body and health, and the results were shocking, to say the least.
The study showed that by consuming two or more diet sodas every day, raises the risk of heart problems by 30%, and the risk of death caused by this kind of problem by a whopping 50%!
Dr. Vyas was right when he stated that this could have serious public health implications because one in every five Americans drinks diet sodas every day. This means that over 5 million people are exposed to serious health problems, which makes 17% of the entire American population.
Dr. Mercola states that the consumption of the artificial sweetener called aspartame during pregnancy can lead to an increased risk of obesity in the baby. This will in turn lead to cardiovascular problems.
