The location of your bellyache tells a lot about what’s happening with your health


Stomach pain can come in multiple shapes and sizes, and in some cases, it will be dull, sometimes sharp, bloated or tight.

There are many different reasons for this, and most of the time it happens due to the fact that the essential body functions are located in this area. There are also numerous nerve endings in this area, and this can lead to pain in the stomach because of an excessive meal, stress or fear.

But sometimes the cause of stomach pain can be more serious, so it is very important to locate the pain in order to find out what exactly is happening with your health.

Upper left

 

When the pain is centered in the upper left part of the abdominal area, it shows that the likely cause of the pain is your stomach. It may also indicate that you have some kind of an ulcer or pancreas problem.

If the pain is getting worse quickly, it could indicate that there might be a gallstone stuck in a bile duct. If you are experiencing this type of pain over a longer period of time, please visit your doctor.

Upper middle

When the pain that you are feeling is centered in the upper middle of the abdominal area, it means that it is associated with acid reflux or another stomach issue.

It can also indicate gallstones or ulcer. The exact reason behind this pain depends on the sensation of the pain.

Upper right

 

A duodenal ulcer (an ulcer in the small intestine), usually characterizes itself with pain in the upper right part of the abdominal area. The main cause for this problem is considered to be an excess secretion of gastric juices.

Middle left

 

Kidney stones or kidney infections are characterized by a pain that is located waist height on the left side of the abdominal area.

You may also experience pain while urinating and constipation. If this is the case, you need to visit your doctor in order to get a professional opinion.

Middle center

 

If you have pain in the center of your stomach, it may indicate appendicitis. If the pain gets sharper and more intense, this may indicate that you also have pancreatitis (includes vomiting) or nausea.

Middle right

 

If the pain that you are experiencing is located on the middle right side of the abdominal area, it can be associated with constipation or it could also be a sign of some kind of kidney issues. Another cause for this pain can be diverticulitis. If this is the case, pouches grow on the colon wall.

Lower left

 

Pain in the lower left side of the abdomens can indicate problems with the intestines. Women can also experience cramps during their period in this area.

Lower center

 

If the pain is centered below the navel, it can mean that you are having an inflammatory bowel disease or urinary tract infection. In cases of women, it may also mean that they are suffering from a condition that is linked to their reproductive organs. Because of this, it is extremely important to visit your gynecologist often.

Lower right

 

If you are having troubles with pain on just the left side of your lower abdominal area, it can mean that you have a stretched muscle, or you have just simply overworked. But, just to make sure, check with your physician.

If the pain in this area is more intense, it could mean that it is a sign of appendicitis. But, check other signs of appendicitis first!

When dealing with pain in the abdominal area, it is of utmost importance to not give up and to search for the most accurate and best medical diagnosis.

This means that it may take some time for you to find out what exactly is happening, but the end results are well worth it.
